The Children of the slums in and around Nirmal Nagar, Dharwad and the Scholastics of Vidyaniketan were eagerly waiting for the day of the year, 22nd February, 09. This was the day, our community held the BALAMELA 09.
Balamela 09 was organised through the initiative of Fr Ivan Mendonca SJ , our beloved Superior. Schs Santosh Walder, Jayaprakash and Pradeep Crasta were the Organisers of this event. With the support of Fr Walter Andrade and other brothers of the community, Vidyaniketan gave the children a day of fun, frolic and entertainment 'in abundance.' Mrs Fabiana and Mr Angelina were the guests of honour for the day. Through the generosity of many benefactors and the voluntary spirit of the parish youth
and sisters of the neighbouring convents, the event lacked 'lack' of volunteers.
and sisters of the neighbouring convents, the event lacked 'lack' of volunteers. Through this gesture, the We shared our joy with the children and they inturn by bubbling with the enthusiasm to return the forthcoming Balmela next year.
We are grateful to all those who have lent a helping hand. But above all, thanks to HIM who made it all possible......
