WHAT HAPPENED THIS MONTH

The visitation of Fr Provincial on the 2nd of November brought a lot of joy and a new vision to the community here at Vidyaniketan. the talk on the 4th of the month, highlighting Fr General's veiw of the Society's mission and of availability made us give a second thought on what obedience. it was truly a grace filled visit.

The month also marked the "happy birthdays" of our dear brothers Rajesh, Arul and Jayaprakash on 4th, 7th and 13th respt. the scholastics also went on a study tour to the historical cities of Badami, Aihole , Pattadakall and KudalaSangam . it was a great opportunity for us to know the history and culture of our own state. This brought in us pride and awealong with 'Naada Bhakthi' as we saw the magnificent architecture and cave sculptures. Schs. Cyril and Roshan prepared us well in advance with the historical info about the places.

At the end of November we were again blessed by the visit of Fr Francis Menezes, our beloved Fr PCF. He appreciated the role of the scholastics in the colleges and the active part we play in the parish, with the youth and choir and the ministries in the slums.

The Advent season was inaugurated by Fr Francis Menezes SJ with the lighting of the Advent Wreath, a symbol of Hope, reconciliation and Joy. we had a recollection that highlighted the theme of advent and the urgency to put back Christ into Christmas. On the 13th of December, we began the Triduum in preparation for the renewal of our Vows and reconciliation before Christmas. Fr Walter Andrade SJ was the guide. It was a wonderful experience to know a lot from Fr Walter, a person known for spiritual depth.

And finally, with the Karnatak University finally finalizing the dates for the odd semester examinations the scholastics are rooted and grounded to their desks (at study time). The exams are scheduled from the 4th of Dec '08 to 20th of January '09.

The scholastics also joined the parishes in celebrating Advent and Christmas by singing at the Carol Evening at Holy Cross Church ,Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church and Shrinagar, Dharwad. The theme was peace, love and hope... the three fundamentals our Scriptures teach us.

So, wishing all a Merry Christmas

and

A happy New Year 2009....

May the Love Incarnate in all of us

and in others through us

this Christmas.
